Paperback Setting
A paperback book requires two files: a manuscript file, which contains interior matter, and a cover file, which contains the front, back, and spine.
Prepare your manuscript's interior format
Follow these steps to format your interior file:
-
Trim the size: Your printed book's width and height. Here is the mention Trim Size
-
A book's pages are trimmed to the selected trim size by trimming 0.125" (3.2 mm) from the top, bottom, and outside edges. To reach all the way to the edge of your page, objects on your page must extend beyond where the page will be trimmed by 0.125" (3.2 mm). As a result, you will need to increase the size of your page beyond the point at which it will be trimmed.
-
Bleed. Bleed is the term used to describe printed objects on a page extending beyond the trim line, such as images, background colors, or graphics. It is critical to ensure that your bleed is properly set so that printed objects extend to the edge of the page. By accounting for bleed, a white border will not appear at the edge of the pages when the book is trimmed. Bleed is only supported for fixed-format files like print-ready PDFs.
When to choose bleed for your interior?
You should include bleed in your interior file if any images, backgrounds, or illustrations in your book should extend beyond the edge of the page.
Note: If you require bleed on only one page of your interior, then your entire file should be set up accordingly.
Calculate the width and height of your page with bleed by using the following formula:
Inches
(Trim height) + (0.125" x 2 (bleed)) = Page height with bleed
(Trim width) +(0.125" (bleed)) = Page width with bleed
For example, if your trim size is 6 x 9 inches, set the page size to 6.125 x 9.25 inches.

Margins. In the manufacturing process, margins protect your content from running off the page and being cut off. For books without bleed, the top, bottom, and outside margins should be a minimum of 0.25 inches, and for books with bleed, the margins should be 0.375 inches.
